OhsawaSenpaiParticipantHey everyone,
I currently have a Pixel 9 Pro (after having an iPhone for quite a while) and I’m interested to get a custom ROM on it (I’ve dabbled with custom ROM’s in the past, before switching to an iPhone for a few years).
The stock experience is okay, but I feel like I want all the possibilities that come with having a custom ROM.
I’ve been lurking on XDA and a few other places, and honestly, I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there. It seems like the main players are:
- Evolution X
- crDroid
- Project Infinity-X
- LineageOS
- DerpFest
…and they all sound awesome for different reasons.
So, instead of just asking the generic “what’s the best ROM?”, I figured I’d ask you all directly: what are you actually using every day and why?
Are you all-in on the crazy features, or do you prefer stability? And really important, are your banking apps and Google Wallet playing nice without a huge headache?
I’m looking for something smooth, with good battery, and a few cool tweaks. I want to flash Magisk and a few modules as well after that.
Appreciate any advice you can throw my way. Thanks!
Bishal PokhrelKeymasterI’m using crDroid right now, and I really like it. One thing that stands out is how it blocks things like Quick Settings, the status bar, and power options when the phone is locked it adds some extra security.
It’s also super customizable without feeling bloated, and still runs smooth and stable.
Battery life is solid, and my banking apps and Wallet work fine with a few Magisk modules.Overall, it’s a great balance of features and reliability for me.
OhsawaSenpaiParticipantThat sounds really nice. Thank you!
Btw, do you have any custom Kernel, like Sultan Kernel on top of it?
And regarding Magisk:
– Your Magisk ZIP is based on the release from topjohnwu?
– Any opinion on Magisk vs. Kitsune Mask vs. KernelSU?
Bishal PokhrelKeymasterI’m using the same kernel with my custom ROM. And yep, everything we share here is from official and trusted sources only.
About Magisk vs Kitsune Mask vs KernelSU:
- Magisk is still the best overall. It’s stable, gets regular updates, works on almost all phones, and supports tons of useful modules.
- Kitsune Mask isn’t really active right now, so not ideal for current setups.
- KernelSU is different it’s kernel-based, so if your device has a supported custom kernel, it’s a great option. good hiding.
OhsawaSenpaiParticipantOnce again, thank you so much for your tips!
Really helpful, and you gave me the push I needed to get started with this 😁
Bishal PokhrelKeymasterAwesome to hear you’re getting started! If you ever need help with modules or anything, just hit me up.
