New to Pixel rooting & OTA patching – bootloop after unlocking bootloader

Hello,

I recently got my first Pixel device and I’m trying to root it using the OTA app by patching the init_boot image. The problem is that every time I unlock the bootloader, the phone gets stuck in a bootloop and I end up having to reflash the stock firmware.

I’ve followed a few different video tutorials, but they all use basically the same process and I keep ending up in the same situation. From what I’ve read, Pixels are supposed to be pretty easy to root, but honestly I had less trouble flashing Samsung devices with Odin.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to troubleshoot this? Maybe I’m missing a step specific to Pixels or using the wrong init_boot image.
